Environmental Center & Boardwalk

proposed environmental center at Rotary's Camp Florida would provide access to wheelchair campers

Rotary’s Camp Florida is actively seeking funding for a boardwalk and waterfront environmental center. There is only one other location in Hillsborough County — Nature’s Classroom — that provides an opportunity for children to explore nature in a classroom setting, and demand is so high that our special needs campers can never get in.

ecenter2This project will provide our campers with their own nature center on site. Nestled between two lakes, we are fortunate there is so much wildlife at the camp that the children can observe and learn about. A boardwalk will be replacing an existing dock and will extend out over the water, and there will be various stations with activities for campers of all abilities. The boardwalk will have a gradual slope along its stretch and will culminate in the woods at the south end of the camp with an elevated environmental center.
